About Concrete Schoolyard

Our Mission

At Concrete Schoolyard, we support people on the NDIS who are living with psychosocial disability and complex mental health challenges — the kind that don’t always show up on forms, but shape everyday life. Invisible barriers matter. When they’re ignored, support fails.

Only around 1 in 400 Australians live with severe and persistent psychosocial disability. We exist for that space — where standard models, rotating staff, and one-size-fits-all support don’t work.

Our psychosocial support is practical, local, and relationship-based. We deliver tailored NDIS supports across Sydney, including community access, daily living support, and assistance for people with dual diagnosis and co-occurring challenges. Our staff work within their specialist space, bringing lived experience or long-term exposure to complex mental health — not generic training alone.

Concrete Schoolyard is for people who’ve been missed, misunderstood, or worn down by systems that weren’t built for them. Real support. Real people. Built for the realities others overlook.

Our People & Our Approach

At Concrete Schoolyard, the people delivering support matter just as much as the support itself.

Our staff are chosen deliberately. Many bring lived experience of mental health challenges, addiction, justice involvement, or have supported close family members through complex situations. Others have built their careers working specifically in psychosocial and community-based support. What they all share is depth — they understand the realities of people’s lives beyond paperwork and plans.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all support. Each participant is different, and effective support requires the right person, not just an available worker. Our team work within their specialist space — whether that’s psychosocial support, community access, capacity building, or practical daily living — and we are careful not to place staff outside their strengths.

Consistency and fit are non-negotiable for us. If we don’t have the right worker, we take the time to find one. If we can’t find the right match, we don’t take the job. That decision is intentional — because poor fit causes more harm than no support at all.

Concrete Schoolyard is built around real relationships, realistic expectations, and support that works in the real world — not just on paper.
